60 Minute IPA

Posted: February 8, 2011 in Dogfish Head, IPA

Ahhh, another IPA from Dogfish Head.  Who would have thought that a 60 Minute IPA would differ so much from a 90 minute IPA? Dogfish Head even has a 120 Minute IPA, I’d take a guess that it is super bitter!

Notes: 120z. bottle poured into a Snifter.

Style: IPA

Color: Gold/Amber in color.  Slight, thin head of foam.

Smell: 60 Minute IPA has a very fruity and floral aroma, it really smells wonderful.  Unfortunately, I can’t quite pick out the exact ingredients.

Taste: Mild flavor, consisting of fruit with a hint of floral.  Unlikely it’s big brother, the 90 Minute IPA, this beer was not too bitter at the end.

Drinkability: I would drink 60 Minute IPA again.  I was very impressed with the aftertaste and was blown away by the smell and flavor of this beer.

Price: $4.99 for a 12oz. bottle.

Overall: 60 Minute IPA receives a strong Spade rating.

You’d be suprised by the 120 IPA, it is quite sweet. The huge amount of malt and high ABV make the beer much sweeter than the 120 IBUs suggest. To me the 60 and 90 are completely different than the 120. It’s more of a beer to be treated like a fine bourbon or scotch, to be sipped on rather than drank like a beer.
